If you want to build lots of muscle, you should shoot for your maximum weight, with 8-10 reps.  

This means that when you get to 8 reps you should be struggling to continue.  

If you can do 12 or more reps with your current weights, then your weights aren&#039;t heavy enough.

Consider increasing the size by 5 or more pounds and see what happens.
