Health and Fitness, Keys to an Easier Life
Physical fitness plays an important role in a person’s overall health. Unfortunately, many people do not exercise and most are not fit. A person does not to need to be an athlete to be healthy nor do they need to get a pricey gym membership. Simple exercises, such as walking or jogging, can easily keep the average Joe in shape.
There is an undeniable link between exercise and being healthy. Spending thirty minutes a day, three times a week can play a significant part in keeping someone active and out of the hospital.
The benefits of fitness are very significant. Physically fit people are less likely to die prematurely. Exercise and overall fitness also reduces the risk of developing diabetes and certain cancers such as colon and breast cancer. People who exercise regularly are more likely to maintain or reduce their body fat.
Some people who do not exercise do not have any weight issues until later in life when they start packing on the pounds. Significant weight gain is often a sign that a person is not physically fit. It may surprise people that fitness also plays a significant role in mental health. Studies show that regular exercise aids in decreasing stress, improves sleep, and releases endorphins that increase positive feelings. Feeling healthy and fit helps reduce anxiety and depression.
It is better to practice a healthy lifestyle from early on but it is never to late to start. There are numerous simple steps a person can take to improve their overall health and fitness. People who take the bus are less likely to gain weight. Why are they less likely to add a pound yearly? The answer is purely because they walk everyday to the bus stop. Adding a ten to fifteen minute walk to your daily routine is perhaps the simplest way to improve your health.
Many people claim they do not have time to exercise. Most anyone can find the time to take the stairs instead of the elevator, they can choose to park further away from their destination adding a few steps to their day, doing jumping jacks during commercial breaks also add up. Finding little ways to squeeze exercise into your life can lead to big improvements. In addition to exercise, diet plays an important role in health and fitness.
Avoiding fast foods and other food that is high in sugar and fat can add years to your life. Most diets fail because they are too strict or are not practical, however making small changes daily can have a big impact. Reading the labels on food will really open your eyes to what you are putting in your body and will have a positive effect on your choice. It is easier to say “no” to a delicious treat if you find out the three small cookies in the pack have more calories then your entire lunch.
Labels provide the knowledge for you to make informed decisions about what you eat and increasing your awareness when it comes to health and fitness is always a good thing. Every day try to do something to improve your health and fitness. Eventually you will find life is easier physically and mentally when you are fit.
