P90X Day 6 – Kenpo X Workout
Wow! I feel great! P90X’s Kenpo X was really fun and full of new moves. I normally don’t like workouts that focus on punching and kicking, but today’s workout gave me a new impression.
First, Kenpo X starts out with a really good stretch routine. It focuses allot on stretching the lower body, namely the back, hamstrings, quadriceps, and calves. Now, I must admit, I’m probably the most inflexible person in the world. I can barely bend over and touch my toes. So, stretching is a very hard task for me. I somehow modified the stretches and got through the routine.
Thank God I did, because Kenpo X is a cardiovascular hit!
After stretching, we moved forward with a few basic punches. This allowed us to ease into the actual workout and get our heart rate pumping. When I first began punching, my husband burst out laughing because my punches were very organized. They weren’t relaxed. They were very tensed punches. So, I relaxed and the workout got better.
I started throwing upper cuts, jabs, and hooks like I was Muhammad Ali:). My heart rate skyrocketed to 179 beats per minute. My favorite moves are when Tony Horton has us throwing punches and kicks in the same set. Wow it was awesome!
